In the previous blog of this series, we shared how we're using AI as a tool to enhance a CGI's emotive value through the hyper-realistic representation of humans.
We shared ‘before and after’ examples and delved into the psychological and neuromarketing-based research that comments on why enhancing emotive value is invaluable when conveying your development's story to your audience.
Remaining on the topic of AI-enhanced people in CGIs, here we're focusing on how we can also use AI to, not only give developers more control and choice, but offer an economical, eco-friendly, and time-saving alternative to photoshoots.
In recent years, the industry has benefited from the advancement of 3D models.
However, despite their ability to offer an accurate sense of scale, lighting, and shadows, they often lack detail, and with a limited number of 'actors' available, they rarely offer the cultural nuances needed for a diverse range of projects.
To counter the limitations of 3D models, photoshoots – offering more control over models, as well as details like clothing and positioning – are a common alternative.
But, not without their own constraints, they can be expensive, time-consuming, and with combined commutes to and from set, the negative impacts of excessive travel can be detrimental to the environment.
Using a similar process to the 3D models of people, AI can help our artists to generate an image of a person using either a mock-up, an existing photograph, or even the outline of a sketch like the one shown in the images above and below.
With this technique, previous limitations transform into a series of benefits from complete creative control, flexibility, hyper-realistic detail, and as the process can be completed virtually and within minutes, the ability to save time and money on transport and photoshoot costs.
